B.O.B. Mods

The B.O.B. trailer doesn’t come with a kick stand and this makes it very hard to park
your bike without the trailer trying to make your bike fall over. You can park your B.O.B. and bike at an angle — sometimes this works and other times it doesn’t. This still puts a lot of pressure on you when you try to straighten it up to start riding again.

Browsing the net I found plans to make a kick stand for the B.O.B. It is light-weight
and still very strong, made from PVC pipe and 5 bolts, nuts and washers. I had to modify the plans to fit my needs.

In the top row, the first picture is the set of parts I made, ready to assemble. The middle picture shows the kick stand attached to the B.O.B. You can see the bolts attaching the kick stand to the B.O.B. in third photo.

While I was at it, I decided to paint the B.O.B. and the kick stand, which you can see in the bottom left photo. The paint I used is color-changing. From different angles, it is blue or purple or black. It looks like the paint job I had on my Raleigh R-700 bike, before I got the Trek Madone.

Bob came up with another mod. This mod adds two small platforms, one on either side of the wheel. This mod gives me a place to put two half-gallon water bottles for long trips through hot country where water is far and or not available. Where water is available I can carry snacks, energy bars, food or whatever in them. The two half-gallon thermos bottles fit perfect.
